New Purpose

My past composed— Revenge, lust, drunkenness, idolatry Today, ordained by the will of God— Flesh ridden They, affectedly pious, Those self-righteous Spit their critique on my choice To live for Him who freed me To them I am unparallel, Not drowning in my old shame I have been dressed in sin before— Weary laden and lost Until I inhaled His word And took it to heart— I hold it close He freed me from my burdens, Washed away my thriving sin I took His easy yoke And He bestowed on me His promise Love, healing, and peace Free from meaningless, worrisome toil To them I say I am not parallel, But clothed in spiritual purpose I now live for Him— Forgiven I strive to become His reflection Until His day come
