New Puppies Love

Their puppy had been alone in this place It seemed that sadness was shone on his face So the man bought him a new mate to meet Somewhat aloof but she was very sweet The puppy thought, she seemed a bit stiff Still he decided, she was worth a sniff When they played he perked up after awhile With pep in his step and style in his smile He was wild and rough, as they went around But his energy was, contagious she found As he watched the man pondered, with labored sigh This certainly could be my lady and I!

Precious, precious! I love dogs. I have a little pom mix, ten years old and blind. But she's still my company. However, I sense a bit of a double meaning in this poem.
