New Marks, Old Scars
New marks over old scars
Reminders of past mistakes
And the present ones likewise
Red marks next to pinkish scar tissue
Painful reminders made permanent on skin
Each type and shape, of a different experience
All bringing about feelings of numbness
The pain no longer hurts you anymore
All you feel is a high like rush
Before crashing down into darkness
Everything becomes nonexistent around you
Nothing feels to have any consequence
Slowly you emerge, back to the surface
And regret and sadness wash over
But when it’s already over what can you do
About new marks over old scars
