New Love

Have you ever listened to the talks of an old man?
Who was getting ready to go to never-never land
He sits and talks about his extensive life
And if married he talks about his wife

She was a magnificent woman he will say
But only if she has already gone away
For the ones that are still alive and well
These men wish they would go to hell

What is it about a woman that we love so much?
Is it their glaze or their tender touch?
We curse the earth when they are alive and well
And miss them dearly when they have gone to dwell

Then a new love does arise
That completely takes a man by surprise
He would do anything you see
Even get down on his knee

The days go by and then the years
Living through laughter and the tears
When you find the one you love the most
Treat her well even when she’s a ghost

The girl I have met I can finally see
She was the one that was meant for me
There is no anger and no pain
Only a chance to live once again

To you my dear I can honestly say
I want to be with you everyday
Even if I’m about to die
I will always love you that’s no lie

So when I am old and fading away
I will boast about you on these days
Remembering all the good we have had
Even when you were making me mad

We only have one life so it would seem
That all we can possibly redeem
Is the happiness that we have found
When one of us is no longer around
