New In Town

Another day in this town
Heart torn, I walk with a frown
The world is upside down
Or is that only me?

I recite my prayer
Its still dark up here
Its dark everywhere
I wish I could leave

This beast I am facing
Lost hope I am chasing
My heart is racing
I doubt I have one of those anymore

How do they bear to be
In the same room as me
Breathing the same air as me
Aren’t they disgusted?

I swim in the dark
I am a dark and hollow bark
Pain, tranquility, a scarlet mark
I’m used to this
