Listen to poem:
How did I not see this before? The green of the trees with their cornucopia of shades Layered and punctuated periodically with a unique dapple of light Amid the litany of man's failing concrete towers The leafy giants stride imperceptibly towards notoriety Saving the planet one gramme at a time As the humans race past. The leisurely somnambulants biding, stretching, organically rooted in their dancing to the alternate tune of Nature's longevity

Dear Chris, absolutely love this. This is so deep ( as deep as tree roots) and so profound. Love the title too. I fear that we shall lose a lot of our precious land/nature to man’s concrete blocks. Wonderful imagery and observation skilfully penned. ( had to look one or two words up!) ‘ with a unique dapple of light) love that line especially. This poem is a testament to the greatness of trees and the impact they have on our planet. It’s also a great reminder to stop and admire nature’s beauty

You do take my breath away with your enthusiasm, Christina :) Thank you. Sometimes we have to capture those moments of revelation.. even if to everyone else it may be obvious. Are the trees the sleeping giants, or is it mankind who has 'dominion'? Hmm. A partnership would be ideal otherwise... C :) x
