Notes About The Poem

New Beginnings - a Shardoma

I held him,
perfect but stone cold,
my baby,
I was lost,
veiled in haze, consumed- and then,
a new beginning.

Very sad...I can understand, but I will never know what a mother truly goes through when something tragic like this happens. Touched by the comment you wrote further down..."I folded my petals around me and withdrew from the world." ~ Congrats on this merited win, Constance. // paul

Yes, you are so strong. Thank-you for sharing all. You ARE the master of sadness. This is a huge component of all our lives, and you highlight it so very well.

Jan, thank you for your compassion, there is nothing more tragic than caring a baby within for nine months and then having nothing at the end, but an empty soul, and a sorrow that is forever, and in my case it happened two times...

Jan, I was shattered, but somehow I have an inner strength within me, I would have liked to write more about it but the form limits it, but I will share a bit here, I asked if I could hold him before they put him in his little coffin and I sat in a quiet room just me and him for awhile, then I folded my petals around me and withdrew from the world ~
