New Beginnings
Each Saturday morning, Matilda Merryweather would leave her
beautiful mansion on a hill to do volunteer work at New Beginnings.
A nonprofit organization to help women get off drugs. No one knew
of her wealth. Not only did she volunteer there one day out of the
week, but she also gave money each year anonymously. She was a
recovering addict from prescription drugs and felt it was her life’s
mission to pay it forward. Every time a woman graduates from the
program, her heart is filled with glee. Matilda plans on going back
to school to get a degree in drugs and alcohol to become a counselor.
Every day that she is blessed to see another day, she thanks the
good Lord she has managed to stay clean and sober for five years.
