Never Will
Sometimes when I get the blues
I put on my walking shoes
Feeling that the time has passed me by
There’s not a lot that I can say
I just want to get away
Sometimes I’ll just sit alone and cry
I thought that I could settle down
Live my life in one small town
Build a little cottage on a hill
But there’s an open road that calls my name
No quiet times can douse the flame
Settle down, I know I never will.
I still dream of those open spaces
Seeing unfamiliar faces
Going where no one knows my name
Sing my songs and dance my dances
Cross my heart and take my chances
Every day begins a brand new game
There’s so much I want to do
Try it all before my life is through
Couldn’t be happy while I’m standing still
Hopes and dreams I can foresee
The world out there just waits for me
Think about returning but I know I never will.
