Never Living

an endless game
pondering where to go
as i watch before me
my mind split in two
and lead me into a path of broken dreams,
wouldn’t you choose a road of happiness?
to capture a bite of satisfaction,
only to have it melt in my very hands
as it runs out through my fingers
into nothing.
watching my wrists hang in discourage,
i shake my own body awake
to end this nightmare
only to find
i was never living to begin with
