Never Forget
Never forget where you come from.
A broken home where no one cared.
Fights every night as you would sit and cry.
No food in the cupboards and no one to listen.
Scared and hurting on the inside.
I held on tight to my talent to write.
No one believed in me,
said I would go nowhere.
I too would be sitting on a bar stool.
I couldn’t accept that truth
So I did what no one expected me to do.
I went back to school and pursued my dreams.
I may have wondered off my path a time or two
But I have never lost track of where I want to go.
