Never Expressed

There's a day coming when
                                             we will regret,
                                          Words never said.

                                     Missed opportunities for visits
                                               you never had.
                                         Loved ones gone to the
                                                  other side.

                                     Where ears will never hear,
                                             words never said.
                                        Sleep on my loved one,
                                            for I'm saying now,
                                        what I should have said

                                            Take heed my friend,
Words said in anger will come
                                             back to haunt too.

Say now what you want to say,
tomorrow might be too late for you,
                                           When the curtain is drawn,
                                                Your chance is gone.

You are the master of reminding us to take heed. I wrote a piece once, titled Unspoke Kindness. A little different take on the subject. Since it dealt with the subject of lonliness while we're alive.

This is exactly why I bite my tongue when I get angry, Anne. Unkind words may be forgiven, but they're never forgotten. After Mom died, my family started sharing "I love yous" at every gathering. We have to seize every opportunity to make these feelings known. This wonderful poem goes to my faves along with you. Your Poems from the Heart series is awesome! Love, Carolyn
