Nest

Nest

It's tough to imagine
The chair where you sit
Vacant and cold
Where we used to chit
And chat in the shallows;
Dive deep in the world
Where ideas, memories
And hopes were unfurled

It's hard to imagine
As lives drift apart
That I've given you all that I have
In my heart
And still ask myself
Is it enough?
For wisdom, discernment
When your world starts to get tough

It's great to imagine
That time when you're home
Will be even more precious
Than the times that we've known
But for now, while your here
Though the salty tear stings
I rejoice in your freedom
In the spreading of wings.
