Neon Rain
At last...
The cold, drizzling rains
Are letting up
And letting me out...
Weary legs need a stretch
So tired of wrestling
With things I cannot control
Out on an aimless walk
Confused and lost
Yet I know where I am
And that's the hardest part
And the hardest to forget...
The night and the city
Tries to help...
Bright flashing signs
High and out of sight
To these damp eyes
And still I see them
Their faded colors
Splashed on the sidewalk
...neon rain...
Has been falling for days
Stray drops attempt to tickle
Down the nape of my neck
In an effort to cheer me up
...would be nice tonight...
I go looking unconsciously
For a sure thing...
The harsh reds and yellows
Do nothing to pull me in
Only the comfort of blue
Flickering diner lights
And steamy bowls and mugs
...I could use a drink
Of something warm...
