Nellie’s Villanelle
She closed her eyes and dreamt of love refrains
As in a poem the words she chose to write
With words that flow with ease as steady rain
To emulate the famous bards of yore
She released the Muse from her inner core

Her constant struggle grappling with her brain
To find a verse despite her mental drain
With words that flow with ease as steady rain
Love has entered as her prose progressed
with mixed emotions such as joy and pain
She closed her eyes and dreamt of love refrains
The premise of the poem began with love
and altered as the mood began to wane
with words that flow with ease as steady rain
With brillance she has wrought a work of art
A Villanelle completed with her heart
She closed her eyes and dreamt of love refrains
