Neighbors

A long, long, tall, tall hedge of green
runs along the picture screen

within my mind
and there I find

Suzie the four year old
so brave and bold

peeking into the leaves
squatting down to receive

those eyes on the other side.
"Oh my." I cried

for there was my friend
a very large drake to send

me off in squeals of glee
as he would look back at me

through little spaces in the hedge
with our unspoken pledge

to always play peek-a-boo
and thats just what we'd do.
