I knew he was famous in a common way his picture was made public, his words were seen in print I read his words without giving them much reflection until the phrase repeated: “we need to….” “we need to…” I thought about what I was always so desperately trying to say about the flowers the sky the clouds all the beauty that lies outside ourselves, out of reach out of touch; all the beauty behind the scenes, beneath the surface, the essence of all beauty. What is it that lies in the space between the paint and the canvas? it has to be us. then I read more of what he wrote and I wondered what it was he needed.
