Ned Kelly Bush Ranger

Ned Kelly, bush ranger.

An Australian bush ranger
Of Irish descent
He roamed through our ranges
With evil intent.

His name was Ned Kelly
He earned so much fame
Teaming up with his brothers
To rob was their game

He killed him, some policemen
There were three of them
And so repercussions
From this evil did stem

When one day there came
 Knocking at his door
Some men of Authority
The arm of the law.

His life was cut short
They hung him one day
In old Melbourne town
His life slipped away

Now he is a legend
Most hold him on high
To me he was evil
And evil must die.

Quite a paradox true life.. Hung by other better Murderers.? Is a thought.' There is a book by Grantlee Kieza the Kelly Hunters also, the death by hanging Abolished being in Australia in 'those days of penal Servitude'..You could be sent there for stealing A few potatoes.. or was it was a slavery to build a New country to exploit ? in one state other lawful Practitioners decimated the NativeTasmanian Tribes that's a reality many never Advertise and it couldn't happen today.. Or could It.? Yes whose hands are truly clean is my conclusion '

You are right Jerry Mick did play Ned Kelly and he did quite a good job at it, it wasn't the best Movie but I never thought much of Mick as an actor, but the thing was he looked a bit like Ned Kelly, we have had a few bush rangers over here in the early years, and we learnt about them at school. Take care my friend..........Vera...........

This reads like an excellent ballad, Vera. I have heard the name, but I will need to do a little research to find out more. Thanks for piquing my curiosity. Jim

Thank you for the comment Jim, yes check him out, he wasn't a very nice man a bit like the American outlaws, we learnt about him at school, we didn't have many over here but we did also have a couple of highwaymen that held up the old Cobb and Co. coaches, but yes very interesting, take care my friend............Vera.................

Hi Vera! Loved reading your new post. You describe Ned Kelly for what he really was...a bandit and a murderer. Strange how some people try to make a hero out of a person like that! But this phenomenon occurs in many countries, not only in Australia. Hope you're keeping well. // paul

Hi, Vera. Why people make heroes of evil is a strange thing to me also. But this seems to happen quite often. Justice must prevail as Robert says. Well done, my friend.... Robert.

Very nice and creative write my good friend. Justice must be served and Ned found that out the hard way. Mick Jagger played the part of Ned Kelly in a movie and did a good job of it but they did make Ned a hero against the evil authorities in that movie.

Yes Robert Mick Jagger was the best man to play the part because they were as ugly as each other, but we learnt all about him at school as he is folklore over here, thank you for reading my friend and take care, love to Riza and Justin.................Vera.......

Thank you for taking the time to read Ilene, this was back in the 1800's when bushrangers roamed the countryside and bush, there were actually a few of them but he was the most notorious one, in fact Mick Jagger played him in the film called Ned Kelly, if you ever see it about watch it, not bad viewing as Ned was as bad looking as Mick, take care my friend........Vera..........

This is very good Vera. I didn't know you all had Rangers in Australia. Here we have the Texas Rangers. Did you know that one Ranger alone can close a whole town all by himself? You are right - evil must die. Thanks for sharing this story/poem... Lucilla

Yes I have hear about the Texas Rangers Lucy, in fact I have seen a few good movies on them years ago but I didn't know they can close a whole town down, Ned Kelly is the only one I really know of even though there have been others, there used to be a coach line called the Cobb and Co. and they used to get robbed just like the stage coach robberies over there in the old days, thank you so much for reading my dear and please take care............Vera............

Dear Vera, this is your first poem I have read and its artistically constructed, I never understand why they make legends of killers. I love this. Alofas, Tiaua.
