Near Me Yet Against Me

Oh, please, why do you want to hurt me again?
Is it jealousy or fear?
What did I do this time?

If you like me, then come on,
trust me.
If you don't like me,
then tell me,
why are you near me?

I don't understand
why this is good for you –
stealing my trust and breaking our bond,
being jealous in the end
and letting it out on me again.

And don't tell me it's not jealousy.
Don't tell me you don't feel jealousy.
Because I'm not that dumb.
But then again,
if I am,
then tell me:
if it's not jealousy,
explain every single detail of your mind,
of your feelings.
Maybe you can explain
and make me understand what it is
if not jealousy, jealousy.

I was jealous too.
We humans experience it now and then –
you know, and I do too.
But I won't let my guard down near you again.
You have to earn it again.

I'm learning from my mistakes,
and you should too.
It's crazy
how we can't be friends.
But then again,
I'm glad – and you are too.
