Near Death Experience

That night I felt the frail body burn in fainting fever Pounding heart pushed blood to the brain in a rush In the swinging sense I felt floating in thin air forever Vaporized eyes strained in vain to clear the vision As they looked vacantly transfixed in hallucination At the changing surreal shape of surmounting space. Through the thin layers of luminous liquefied night I saw my entity sinking with my essence escaping Getting dissipated in the domain of ethereal ether I heard the sound of the distant bells tolling faintly Masking the music of the swan song fading away In stalled time’s serene depth of sublime silence. That’s when I saw a pale figure appear as if frozen In the mist outside the window open on the starry sky As the gloomy clouds cleared I saw in the moonshine The smiling face of my mother who I’d lost years ago She came to take me with her, but before I said wait I regained consciousness after near death experience. _________________ April 30, 2022 Contest : Near Death Experience Sponsored by : Chantelle Anne Cooke
