Well Maureen it's not the USA/Mexican border wall, but it might as well in belief; with taunts of the grass being greener on the other side. Only to find that an outstretched hand doesn't receive help but a cut. I hope I'm not reading in too much. There is a certain open endeness to this poem since I saw 1st had the exchange of East & West Berlin before the fall; AND more recently the barbed wire border between Slovinia & Croatia. Much to be said. Bless you Maureen HUGS.

This is why we call it "cut grass" in Iowa.

Once again, with feeling: A spectacular expose of the truth about that barbed-wire fenced-in greenery... It's shocking to me to see so much barbed wire even in the West these days... I understand and understood it in Israel, but here?! The times have certainly changed, and you are a trusted mouthpiece for the cruel results. Kudos, Gershon

This is excellent and open to much interpretation. In life it's not just grass that's greener on the other side. Humans can be very cutting. Cheers - Gary

The other side wasn't so greener, I see - the barb wire shows - those reaching open hands can certainly be cut. Well done Maureen! :)

I have in my youth climbed through many a barb wire fence and never enjoyed it once. If it doesn't catch your clothes or your hair it catches your flesh. Great write here. Never thought anyone would write a poem about it. God Bless, JB

Heya super Mo, so well thought out as always, reminds me of people who used to cement broken glass on to the top of their walls to stop children and cats walking across, Hope your keeping well, cheers David

Hmm. There’s a deep meaning this poem wants to impart. Guess thats the secret of this form, tweaks you to think and think again. Nice.
