Nature's Quilt
A congregation hovers effortlessly in chaotic unison,
then plummets within a cool graceful wisp.
Anticipation abounds, for soon upon this flowing ridge
there will be a gathering,
an assembly of the descending flock.
An infinite palette of rusted hues
shimmers through their transparent membranes,
each leaf uniquely indistinguishable.
They lie in a distinct disorder
upon this panoramic canvas,
a precise indiscriminate pattern to its weave.
With one final brush of an Autumn’s wind,
we are offered the warmth of Nature’s quilt
and this serene vision of its journey into Fall.
