  was once a far-away goal
‘Course we already did that
  fifty-plus years ago

How about Mars, Venus
  Jupiter or Saturn
Why repeat what we’ve done
  If there’s no glory to earn

You certainly make a good point, gw. On the other hand, what is to be gained by going to any of these planets, if we could? Really now, who would want to go? Maybe Elon Musk???? (chuckling)

What was gained by going to the moon for that matter? It seems to me that more important than the invention of shrink-wrap, which is credited to our moon voyage(s), is that other nations look up to us and yes, fear us a bit. I'd rather they look up to us than look up to China, personally. ~ Just sayin...

It needs backing and money…perhaps we will get to one of those places. I don’t know if today’s kids truly appreciate what it took to get to the moon. On a somewhat unrelated topic…there was a Bewitched episode where a man sings to Sabrina’s twin..fly me to the moon…then he was there…funny episode.
