Nakba

In the land of Abraham
The soil cries out with blood,
For Cain has killed Abel
Over 30 thousand times

Not content to take
His brother's life,
He takes the lives
Of friends and family,
Stripping the land bare
For future settlements

God's chosen people,
Angry with grief,
Rain down unending wrath,
Bursting above Arab homes,
Blackening buildings
And souls,
Breaking bones
And hearts

While Palestinian pleas
For peace
Are drowned in rubble
And wails of mourning mothers,
Whose sons will never wake to see
Their broken homeland
Returned.
