Verse 1
She reaches out in desperation
To a man who holds her hand
Soon, he’s gone without hesitation
Leaving her alone and lonely again
The story is the same for her today
As it was for so many gone before
She yearns for a love that will bring
Reassurance, kindness, encouragement
A love that will make her feel understood
With a man who can love her unconditionally
CHORUS
That love she’s searching for in the dark
Is a love that only One can impart
It’s the love of a Savior, the man, Jesus
Who fills us with a sense of true peace
And gives us the grace to share faith
That is filled with hope and love, intimacy
A sense of real joy that she’s never known
Verse 2
Her hands shake as she opens up the door
Entering a church for the first time for sure
She’s heard about this God who gives love
And she wants the answers sent from above
Her tears fall as the preacher tells them
Jesus will love them without ever failing them
She yearns for a love this faithful and eternal
Love that can’t be found in any man or other
Form of addiction, sin or material thing
It’s only alive with the One who created her
Bridge
Reach out and take the nail scarred hand
It is here that you will always have a friend
Reach out and take the nail scarred hand
With Him, there is a love that knows no end
