Myths

Wait,
That's all we seem to do.
Wait for Santa Claus,
Wait for the Tooth Fairy,
Wait for the Easter Bunny,
Wait for Christ.

Each delusion slips away as we grow up but one,
One we seem to hold on to
Cling to because we can't accept that the bible is only a collection of myths.

We don't dare let go.
Its what people have told us is the truth all our life,
Have threatened us with eternal damnation
If we are to think critically and examine what we are told.

But that's the problem isn't it.
We need to step up,
Let go of our superstitious fears,
Question our beliefs,
Experiment and research for ourselves to find the truth,
Stop believing in a book
Written in the ancient middle east by men who have no proof for their claims,
Stop denying facts when we are presented with them.

If we want to live in an intellectual world, then its time to stop believing myths.

Some items in certain categories do not fit. i.e. , rain, snow, sleet, bird. Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bonny, Christ. I commend your thoughtfulness and advisement to question, but I think that you would agree that there is a place for 'Faith'. And I think you would agree that 'bird' and 'Christ' do not fit in the above mentioned categories. I enjoyed reading your poem. GBU my friend.
