Myth and Monsters
It was darker than a dozen midnights
In a dreary and miserable Georgia swamp
All seemed hopeless, lightning bugs on the lens
The magnetic compass swirling all around us
And so it was also the edge of time
As barren fields yields up their magic
From the darkness of the night
Ancient terror is awaiting us
If we so choose to step through
They told us we would be wise
If in fact, we did not even go
Though we were unaware
The comets return to earth.
In fact, this is what we came for
As children, we wish for many frivolous things
We played together in the midnight shadows
Though now that we are full grown adults
Looking for real or unreal monsters out there
From all the X-files and Internet blogs read
The night shadows are very different indeed
As we go in search of what is truly out there
