Mystified

Love is my favorite game.
I love to play along.
As silver threads weave
their way thru my soul.
Memories of futures past.
Echoing across the land.
Years started to drift on by.
Losing loved ones dropping like flies.
As the sun slips below the skies.
All I wanna do is cry.
Run away and hide.
Then all doubts of you leaving drift away.
As I was mystified listening to the whispers in the wind.

Great poem that expresses the sadness and misery born from facing the tragic death of a loved one. Having recently myself, faced such, this fine poem touched me deeply my friend. And I find your pen to be talented and insightful with a deep understanding in its renderings.. A7 and a new fav....

This is really awesome my dear friend, Deb! I love it and I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Thank you so much for sharing! Thank you so much as well for taking your time to read and comment on my birthday poem to our dearest friend, Linda. As I've said, I can't forget your birthday too. But I hope I've not missed it that day since I was quite occupied 'coz of my mom's snag on health. Again, stopping by to greet you a belated Happy Birthday! Many hugs with all my loving wishes! <3lots,Leonora

Debbie I really enjoyed reading this poem, and yes as Paul says the loss of someone close to you is so sad, but at my age (72) I am losing someone all the time but it is the memories that linger on and when I do think of all those loved ones I feel love in my heart, thank you for sharing and take care........Vera.

Such a delightful poem, Debbie, even though the loss of loved ones brings sadness. That's how life is, and we have to learn to adapt to it. Acceptance is the key word. ~ Regards // paul

What I find fascinating about our human condition, is that we measure our lives by gain or loss, when in reality, it's the same as its ever been. I find when I look into my heart, everyone who has touched me, is still there and everyone who will touch me is just waiting. You Poem is well done Debbie. Thanks for sharing

It is a mystery how we form bonds with others and how some last long and others not. And when we lose these links, it does make us sad. I wonder about the last two lines. When doubts of you leaving drift away, I can't tell if that means acceptance of leaving or that there is understanding that there will be no leaving in this one case, and that it was just the mystifying pattern that created a bit of angst. In any case, it is good to see you here.

this one is different. by saying you love to play alone, it makes the loss of love not quite so heartbreaking! Mystified is a good title for this poignant poem.

gosh, you only have a FEW strands of white hair. LUCKY YOU! I would say maybe 1/3 of mine has gone white now. But it lies mostly underneath the top part so I can still hide it pretty well when my roots are growing out! It's pretty cool that we are both the same age!
