Myriad
Cold morning, bleak sun blazing
trace fading, cigarette burnt to the end
she’s gone from me now, only smoke.
I can’t even feel the grace of touch
and feeling and slight distance
anymore, any more would break me.
Depth of connection, unstable but
unbreakable, an atomic bond
ready at any moment to shatter.
Never, though, will I shatter it
lost something lovely, can’t forget
can’t let go of the desperate dream.
I’m fading but I know she is shining
I can see her light from here
it is brilliant, and I am dull and dark.
She will never see me again
I will always live and love
in her myriad shadows.
