I turn off the news of Russian war on Ukraine, my heart is broken at the scenes that I see; and I am tried of hearing the politicians fighting, attacking and insulting each other and doing little. I need to go for a long walk down the street, but all around me is chaos and horrible scenes ! In my neighborhood there are a lot of homeless, people tattered and battered begging for coins; I often wonder how did they get to this place, There are homeless animals too, cats and dogs, wandering, looking for food and some kind of love ! Oh, I wish these homeless people could be helped, these homeless animals could find forever homes; I see elderly people struggling to walk pushing carts, why do they have no one to help them do groceries. Oh, I wish some organization would get organized, to help the elderly do their chores and shopping ! When I get home I light a candle and kneel down, weeping, I ask the Lord Almighty, oh God why; why the wars, why the hate, why the starvation, why do we have to get old and feeble, why, why. The candle flickers, child, I have no control over the chaos of your earth, and I weep with you ! _________________________ June 07, 2022 Poetry/Verse/My Wish and Prayer Copyright Protected, ID 06-1463-242-07 All Rights Reserved, 2022, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, If Only My Wish Would Come True sponsor, Anoucheka Gangabissoon, Judged 06/23/2022 First Place

Thanks for the thoughtful and heartfelt poem, Constance. Sara and I go on our daily walk to have some time to be at peace in nature and calm ourselves in this world of chaos. Often, we break to bliss of walking in nature by bringing up the war and then it connects to the hate and irresponsible way the leaders of our country (U.S.) are failing the people that elected them. We're all a part of the problem to some extent, but the leadership here is terrible. Good luck in the contest. Hugs, Bill

Bill, thank you so much for the compliment and your comment and encouragement, I could have put so much more into the chaos of my poem but it would have to be much longer, so I focused on my street, blessings ~Constance
