My Way of Crying

The metal bed frame is cold against my calf
The blade in my hand is cold too
I am cold
I feel unreal, transparent
Here is the answer
The way to let go and be
Overwhelmed
I’ll make it alright to cry
The blade meets flesh
And I wait for the bite
Something greater than
The bite of grief
Pain, guilt, anger
My grip doesn’t falter
The tears come
Rosy warmth and comfort
Fill the furrows of my heel
Create a river down
My icy calf
The tears come
Clean spirits streak
Their dirty little trails
And I feel empty
And for a time
Have peace
