Notes About The Poem

Some people have their own way of doing things and no matter what you say or do they cannot be swayed. Even when it comes to their job they will insist on doing it their way. The trouble comes when they refuse to observe certain rules pertaining to the way a job is done. Some rules pertain to health and safety and cannot be ignored. A good rule of thumb to follow is to remember they hired you to do a job and trained you to make sure YOU KNOW HOW THEY WANT IT DONE. Since they are paying you to do it their way it makes sense to comply with their wishes. If you think you have a better plan for doing the job discuss it with your supervisor. Then be willing to abide by his/her decision.

My Way

I want to do it my way,
The way I think it should be.
The fact that it doesn't make any sense,
Doesn't matter to me.

I like it better this way.
It's the way I want it to be.
The fact that it confuses the matter,
Doesn't matter to me.

It's my job so let me do it.
Don't bug me about the rules.
I'd rather take the short cut.
Guide lines were made for fools.

As long as I get the job done,
As long as it's done on time,
Who cares how I did it,
It's done and it looks just fine.

I have no use fore protocol.
Useless rules waste time;
So do it your way and I'll do it mine,
And we'll get along just fine.

I've had many jobs like this,
And I did them all the same way.
The reason none of them lasted long,
Is a mystery to me, who can say.

One cannot read your mind that you know exactly how to do what is expected of you, and the end result will prove to others 'There I told you so' but you won't have to say it, they just have to look and see - clever my friend. Hugs and blessings. Jennifer.
