My Tyrian Galley
"My Tyrian galley waits for thee" - Oscar Wilde
*************************************
"My Tyrian galley waits for thee",
and breakfast is getting cold.
The maid was here to cook the eggs
but now she has gone home.
"My Tyrian galley waits for thee",
but I cannot wait much longer.
The crickets sing upon the hearth,
and I am getting older.
So come down, Miriam -
have your eggs and have them with me quickly...
I haven't long to trim the sail,
and the crickets are all twitchy.
When you've had your eggs and toast,
we will telephone the maid then.
The crickets will be nice for tea,
and she'll know how to cook them.
