My Trip To the Mighty Blighty

My trip to mighty Blighty. At the age of just nineteen I bought myself a ticket Packed up all my bags and stuff And climbed aboard the ship I was off to mighty Blighty. And so I left these Aussie shores And sailed the deep blue seas I crossed so many lovely countries And stopped at quite a few On the way to mighty Blighty. I travelled through the Suez Then went on up to Naples And then off to Gibralta I saw some lovely sights As I sailed to the mighty Blighty Then sailed on to my destination No more stops along the way Four long weeks it took this boat Then at last I spied the shores As I arrived at mighty Blighty. 23 May 2014.

A trip that gave you great experiences and thrills no doubt my friend. And eventually you met Peter and the rest is history as they say. Meeting so early in life was a blessing to you both. I can only imagine meeting my wife when I was so young. I know we would be together same way you and Peter are now!! BBRAVOOOO ON THE WRITE MY FRIEND!!!

Robert thank you so much, yes it was great trip all on my own and at the ripe old age of 19 I had a ball. Little did I know I would meet the man of my dreams mind you life hasn't been smooth sailing but we got there in the end, take care my dear friend and love to the family................Vera..................

Thank you for the voyage and sharing your adventure, I never really travel except in my imagination so I'm glad to see things through the eyes of someone such as you and of course Peter lol. I wished so hard to see these distant places but maybe someday their always tomorrow right LADY. CHERI

The mighty blighty, :) I've never heard that. I gather it's England from the comments. Sounds like a trip too few ever take. So enjoyed the recollection.

What a journey I loved to travel and meet different people from around the world. Travelling days are done but I can go into Cambridge and let the world come to me. Well done Vera good to see your page filling up. Regards to Peter take care Andy

Thank you so much for the comment Robert, yes I am afraid we are getting too old to travel far, Peter and I take little holidays here in W.A. now, gone are the overseas holidays, planning one now for July/August to a little place called Nannup down in our South West, beautiful countryside, can't wait, Take care my friend, regards to family.......Vera..............

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Paul, no I wasn't really disappointed but I am glad I don't live there anymore, came here to Oz. in 1950, went back in 1962 met Pete and came back here in 1967, then went back in 1998 and again in 1999 and maybe one more trip we can't make up our minds, anyway take care and regards to your wife ............Vera...........
