My Thanksgiving To God
I was once drowned in sinfulness’ misery
Fearing death, warring against sickness and pain’s worry…
God be thanked and honoured for bringing me to the right faith of victory
With His mercy, offering to me Heaven’s glory...
Now, I'm blessed: joyously testifying about His Gospel story!
I was then guilty of unbelief and arrogance
Exalting myself, wasting my resources in worldly extravagance…
God be thanked and praised for pulling me from hell-bound ignorance
With His wisdom, revealed to me by His Word’s assurance...
Now, I'm taught: gladly privileged for discipleship along His truth's elegance!
I was likewise gripped by Satan’s game
Propped by materialism, wading in idolatry’s lamentable shame…
God be thanked and saluted for rescuing me against deception’s flame
With the power of the Saviour’s blood – holy, without blame...
Now, I'm empowered: righteously led in helping upon His holy fame!
I was actually blinded by humanistic perspective
Losing sight of divine values, watching for what’s defective and destructive…
God be thanked and glorified* for guiding me to His plan, perfectly redemptive
With the vision of the immutable kingdom along His throne’s distinctive...
Now, I'm illumined: earnestly inspired to serve, spiritually active!
*Isaiah 49:3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
