My Teacher

I came to you with an open mind
that you kindly filled with wisdom
And as I grew, so did my knowledge
all because you cared

When there were times I didn't fully comprehend
the patience and attention you showed me
Gave me guidance and confidence in myself
all because you believed in me

I come to you now with respect
that you have earned unconditionally
Some day I hope to make you proud
by wisely practicing
all that you have taught me

A nice tribute! This reminds me of the impact my 6th grade teacher had on me.

Thank you, Carolyn. I wrote this poem about eight years ago and since then I've been teaching preschool children for the past seven years. Teachers are the people into whose hands we place our most precious gifts. I've met a lot that are truly good people and love their profession. I am really enjoying this site and all the great people that participate here as well. Take care, Shani
