My Tantalizing Summer
The long full days of golden light draws me out to see lovely late evenings
I welcome you along with me, to glimpse Summers magical dance
My tantalizing list of perfect things to see and do in June, July and August
Hear the cry of hawks above my head, circling ever closer.
The hoot of the owl from the backyard tree as evening falls
The rambling of the deer, the chirp of a robin
The chatter of a Stellar jay come to eat at my tray
Intoxicating garden smells of lavender, mint and roses
Fresh turned dirt and warm cleansing summer rains
Double rainbows over verdant hills of green grass
The glacier glowing above us all, snow melting
BBQ’s and picnics at the beach, with friends and family
Gathered around the campfire glowing, marshmallow
Pillows on a stick, all melty, gooey. Toasted goodness
Oozing on a dark chocolate square with grahams
City parks full of music concert melodies drifting high
on warm sultry currents swirling though our heads
Farmers market Saturdays picking treats for the week
4th of July parades with horses prancing and bands toot, tooting
Starry skies of cobalt blue sparkling like diamonds aglow
Fairy dust trails of comets and stars falling to earth
Watching the moons first kiss as the maiden smiles serenely
A sliver slice to full light of sweet summer bliss
Sunset vistas of such beauty as to fill my soul with energy
The wonder of possibilities. Sitting quietly, holding hands,
as day comes to close, counting my many blessings
and my love of summer’s unique gifts and joys
