My Sunflower Seed Addiction

It wouldn’t be considered gourmet food.
In fact, I’ve seen it eaten by a lout
who wore a baseball cap, and looking crude,
kept chewing it until he spat it out.

It hasn’t got the most delicious taste,
but cleverest of diet snacks I’ve tried,
its calories can’t be consumed in haste.
One cracks its shell to get the seed inside.

It’s high in protein, fiber, zinc and E
and sunshine’s D. . . I’m healthy as a bird!
And at the matinee, I have with me
a package (nacho flavored most preferred!)

And since my fingers always have a need
to feed my face, I love my sunny seed!

Note: Sorry this is not a really emotional one
All my addictions seem to be pleasure centered and not too harmful!
Just to show you how addicted I was to nacho flavored sunflower seeds,
when they were discontinued by the company, I went around to every
gas station and grocery store in the valley and bought up every package
of them. It cost me around $85 and the 75 bags lasted only a year! Now I
eat the large ranch flavored ones!

You truly are capable of writing a sonnet about ANY subject, my friend. Another excellent one about the stuff of life. Do you still eat sunflower seeds? What flavor do you prefer now?

these days I can only eat ranch. Nacho cheese gone forever. Pickle flavor is not bad! Look at how I slaughter mathematics pleiades. I did not read directions right and had put up a poem on food!! So I had to quickly do a math one.

I stand corrected, dear Heart. I looked and found this gem about a tasty snack.... I think you speak of them with the same love that you have for the flower.... Hugs.... Jake

Congrats on your win, Andrea! :)) But so sorry about your favorite snack. :(( Send an email or letter to the company. Perhaps they'll send you some. A long shot but worth a try. I would even send a copy of your poem. In the future, I'm sure there's a way you could make something like them yourself. Good luck, Rhonda

It's best if theyr'e consumed outside. Or somewhere you don't have to hide. And if you don't want a sore tounge. It's best if you eat them when your young.

They are good and already shelled delicious on a salad..The flavored kind or salted kind have way too much sodium though..Great work praising the delicious seed..Seeds are one of the things that God gave an okay on for man to eat..Thanks for stopping by and reading my Ode...My first one to write..Don't know if I did it correctly..Sara

great poem! i remember as a kid buying sunflower seeds in a little box for 2 cents (they sold salty pumpkin seeds, too) and as a teacher, constantly battling kids who ate them all during class (leaving their desks littered with the shells).

Great write my friend! I liked your fantastic, incredible poem! I really like the lines, "And since my fingers always have a need, to feed my face, I love my sunny seed!" I just love the way you put that together...you made a funny poem from just those two lines in themselves! I thoroughly enjoyed your write that I have read this evening! I really love your poem! Awesome Work!!
