My Soul As the Day

Oh there is one place that dwells deep within
It warms up the sun as each new day begins
It's a wellspring of essence, the aspect of id
All things that have guided since I was a kid
From deep, shines that spirit, alit as the day
With a noonday sun luster to fluster the fray
My feet on its path from sunup's first spark
Still it scatters a shadow, a comfort of dark
It sees me thru day as sun 'cross the vault
It shelters thru darkest of storms to a fault
It lets heaven weep to give hope and inspire
And thru winter's cold I stay warm by its fire
But this life is precious because it thus ends
Like lovers and lullabies and childhood friends
Each day's filled with glory, adventure and light
Yet moonlight and stars only shine in the night
Someday all my stories will dance on the sky
And color each sunset as evening draws nigh
When, like the day dying to set the gloam free
My soul, as those sunsets, slips into the sea.
