My sorrow lingers

I’ve come to understand your life’s hidden ways, No longer the fool lost in your praise. I carve out my space, yet refuse to take flight, My sorrow lingers, unyielding, in sight. The century turns its back on my plight, What’s become of humanity’s light? Deep in the heart, my secrets remain, Not a soul has yet heard my silent refrain. My truths are many, still not shared with a friend, My honor untouched, it will not bend. I approach with caution, still holding my fears, Like a bride yet to unveil through the years. Don’t be swayed by flattery or hollow acclaim, Do not blame the world or place it in shame. If your heart is never truly at peace, You’ll find no joy, no sweet release.
