My Son's a Lone Soldier

My son's a lone soldier, no one bolder
   than he
Thousands of miles from home and hearth
   an enlistee
That he's strong and brave and daring
   all agree
But we keep asking ourselves 'Why?'
   'specially me  

Posted on perilous, war-torn borders
   he'd be
In the crosshairs of those who'd kill him
   with glee
With my heart in my throat I utter
   this plea
O, Lord, please protect this lone soldier
   from the enemy!

It is tough sometimes. My son was born here, and his mom/my wife came here from the Ukraine to avoid anti-Semitism... and now our son goes off, voluntarily, to defend Israel from the most bloodthirsty anti-Semites the world has ever known... This is terrifying. My daughter enlisted during the Gulf War. It is so scary for a parent. I pray that everyone will be safe, every soldier, and every police officer. They serve when others defer. Thank your son for me.

A touching heart felt write, Gershon! Both of my sons are in the army. Right now they are both safe in the US, but my oldest son has spent 9 months in Afghanistan and a year in Korea. I pray that God will keep all of our young men and women safe from the enemy. Blessing, Kim

So, you know... Every day brings a new threat... By the way, I was idealistic enough to move to Israel, but I sure didn't go volunteer my services to the Army. Not sure what possesses my Daniel sometimes. At any rate, he's always in my prayers. Thanks, Kim. :) gw
