My Snow Boots

My snow boots weren’t meant for snow.
I bought them several years ago
In summer – I was Ireland-bound,
Expecting puddles on the ground.

They’re hiking boots, not very high,
But waterproof to keep one dry.
I’d have no reason to complain
When Irish skies would spit out rain.

My trip was glorious and, funny,
Every day was bright and sunny.
Nestled snugly in my case,
The unworn boots hogged too much space.

Still, I’ve used them lots since then
When stormy weather comes again.
I stomp through slush piles on the street,
No drops or dampness on my feet.

I’m grateful to my Ireland tour,
Preparing me so I’d be sure
To buy the perfect boots to wear
In snowstorms here or rainstorms there.

I'm sure that while visiting Ireland you encounter more than your fair share of rain, as I do in England... there I rely on my 'wellies' to keep my feet dry! Very entertaining Ilene!! Keith

I better just say the exact right words or compliments to this fine poem! Or else I might just get "The Boot"! Which would be odd cause then you would have 1 boot and I would have the other one!

Sound like you have the ideal footwear for the weather Ilene .. but with deep snow - you have the ideal opportunity to stay warm indoors and write your wonderful poems:-) hugs Jan xx

thanks, paul! since the snow, the temps have been much warmer than usual so it's all melting away.

From what I've seen on the tv. I think you need boots up to your knee.
