My Silence
A hundred words are trapped behind my tight lips
A hundred words lined up to make my mind speak
A thousand words are desperate to get off my chest
A thousand words to make my heart’s feelings manifest
Words that are stuck in my throat
Words held back on second thought
Words never to be spoken or waiting to be a note of cheer
A suppressed voice is loud in my mind but silent to your ear
My silence holds back words that can injure
My silence a pause before words that are pure
Some mistake my silence for weakness
They mistake my silence for cowardice
But when loudness means fear, silence can be courage
Silence can be golden, when noise means wreckage
My silence is a search in a mental lexicon
Gathering words to match an emotion
My silence can mean rejection
My silence can mean acceptance
My silence can flip from guilt to pride
My silence can enable evil or spread love
My silence can cause strife or create calmness
My silence can absorb pain or render forgiveness
My silence can be insurmountable than walls
My silence can have more meaning than words
