My Shadow

Shadow, shadow on the wall. Why mimic me at all?
Hiding upon rising til out the door
From early morn, you wave from next door
Distant and forlorn you stretch away
Then hide at my feet as we feel the heat
Only to run away as the day fades
Squinting, you wisp away and fade to grey
As I step inside to watch you hide
