My Schizophrenic Friend

You are my invisible friend Who weaved your way into my life. Pulling each string tighter. You liked to play games. Ssssssssssssssssssh are little secret while you held my hand over my mouth. You always cracked at the quiet game. Holding your lips shut like you were sucking a lime. I hated hide and seek, you never let me seek. Always in control, always wanting to find me. Soon you got bored, yawned when I suggested a game. Until you discovered Simon says. Your smile stretched like an elastic band. You would whisper commands in my ear. Simon says call that girl a whore. Simon says set that girl’s hair on fire. I tried to stand up for myself. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO You twisted your body around me and weaved a web. Sleeping tablets kept you at bay. A way to shut you out. But while I slept, while I was weak and vulnerable You returned. You watched me while I slept. You laughed as you shook me awake. Your menacing frame standing over me as you took your Throne inside my head. No longer a guest. You whispered in my ear We are bond together. A contract signed with an X
