My Robin
I looked out to a morning new
A cloudy dull affair,
Brightened some by dewdrops
That sparkled here and there.
Then from the gloom, a robin
He alighted on a tree.
A charming little fellow,
Who brought a smile to me.
Though the morn was dull
He sang a cheery tune,
My robin, he enchanted me
And chased away the gloom.
He cocked his little head
He looked, then flew away.
I asked myself, was he aware
He'd brightened up my day.
