My Response To Responsibility
When I turned fourteen, we formally met,
As I worked to help my mother pay bills,
Thus introduced to society's ills,
And the "rat race" that keeps us all in debt!
You and I have been up since the sun set,
And have been engaged in a test of wills,
Traveling up and down so many hills,
Asking if this is as good as it gets!
You have tortured me, without any guilt,
And yet, I survived whatever you did.
Therefore, this is how character is built,
Separating the adults from the kids.
However, my life is still on full tilt;
Open, until someone closes the lid.
