My Refuge

The garden is my refuge,
  my place of safe escape,
  my protective safety net.
Even now on cooler mornings
  weather cannot deter me
  as I venture out.
A simple walk around the perimeter
and checking bird feeders and baths,
  just watching gives me peace.
Though life here is quieter,
  less hurried and hassle free
  it is here
in the refuge of my garden
  close to the open sky,
living in the freedom of nature
the silence of the heart
is where I can find myself
 and rest without any fear.
