My Private Parts

"The job of a poet is to tell the truth no matter what."
Michael S. Harper

I pay my dues to poetry with every breath I take.
With every word that moves forward on the page,
I shake loose the silence of ordinary days,
free my soul, let passions rise and memory live.
Time shadows the light outside ,
but life vibrates in its rhythm. When I'm full
of its complicated energy, I retreat to the intimacy
of the night and write. For me.
