My Private Conversation
I had a private conversation, just the other day
that I’m quite concerned about!
I felt my corespondent, had a flaw or two,
that needed to be straightened out!
I hoped my words of wisdom,
and really sound advice,
attracted his immediate attention,
so, I wouldn’t have to tell him twice!
Well, he listened very carefully,
and agreed with what I said!
I felt that I was getting through,
when he began to nod his head!
I said, I know that time is moving on.
That life is passing by!
But, you can still improve yourself,
all you have to do is try!
Everyone has their problems!
That’s a part of life, no doubt!
But none that, with just a little work,
cannot be straightened out!
We’ve all done things we’re sorry for.
We all have made mistakes!
That’s part of being human,
that’s life, for goodness sakes!
So I told him, “you’re a real nice guy”!
To that fact, I will assert!
“Just keep trying to improve,
it surely couldn’t hurt”!
So, he agreed to knuckle-down
and do the very best he could!
To improve the person that he was,
just like he knew he should!
He went along with all I said!
He didn’t disagree!
The reason, in case you haven’t figured out,
that someone I was talking to - was me!
